CY0-001 is the exam behind CompTIA SecAI+, a certification for security practitioners who now have to secure AI systems as well as use AI inside their own security work. It launched on February 17, 2026, making it one of the first vendor-neutral certifications aimed squarely at the intersection of cybersecurity and AI.
It is not an entry-level exam. CompTIA recommends 3–4 years in IT with at least two years hands-on in cybersecurity, and suggests Security+, CySA+, PenTest+ or equivalent knowledge beforehand. The questions assume you already know what a security control is; what is new is applying that thinking to models, training data and generative systems.

One domain dominates. Securing AI systems alone is worth 40% — more than double any other — and it is where your study time should concentrate. The pairing to keep straight throughout is securing AI (protecting models, data and pipelines) versus AI-assisted security (using AI to defend everything else). The exam tests both, and mixes them deliberately.
